Whitetail deer feed on various food sources. Grasses, young twigs, acorns,
beech nuts, corn, garden vegetables, etc. They are very adaptive to the area they happen to be in. Area feed stores like
farm supplies and even pet stores carry a wide variety of wild animal food.
I usually use a mix of corn and prebagged deer feed. Prebagged deer feed
is a mix of grains, oats, corn, molasses, and small amounts of other ingredients. My local Agway dealer always has
these on hand. Horse feed is very similar in makeup and can also be used.
It is also important to have water nearby. It could be a simple birdbath
with a heater to prevent ice in winter. I am lucky to have a stream nearby, so water was not an issue.
